How to forge damascus steel: Step by step. AUTINE and bladesmith John Neeman
Просмотров 380 тыс.11 лет назад
This is my second "how to" video. At this time I wanted to show a technique for damascus steel forging and knife making. I hope that this video will encourage someone to start forging and carry on old traditions of craftsmanship. Also, I wanted to thank everyone who appreciated my first video. Your kind words helps and motivates me to make more stuff like this in the future. Big thanks to Elvij...
How to forge an axe: Step by step. AUTINE and bladesmith John Neeman

In order to clear up the confusion that is still going on about "John Neeman" and his previous workplace, please read the following information. John Neeman is Jānis Nīmanis who is the bladesmith of AUTINE by John Neeman. He is also the same John Neeman who was in Neeman Tools project. John left the company because he did not agree with the vision of his former partner for the company. John has...
As a former metal worker myself, I bow to your skill and expertise. Many blessings.
I don't know anything about knives but I can tell you know how to cut.
Awesome video!
This knife looks very sharp but I don’t think this is the right way to advertize it with cutting a young tree. Better to have shown it on a dry branch. Remember that trees are essential to create oxygen, to maintain moderate temperatures throughout the year, to be homes to many species, to block erosion and floods, to keep high reserve of CO2 within them. In fact, as trees are only seen in our planet they are more valuable than gold, diamonds, money, and so on. Respect the nature!
Well people plant there own tress on there own land they can do as they wish with them and in nature they can use them as they wish if needed maybe go say something about the big industrial places destroying thousands of miles of woodland not some outdoor person doing little bushcraft. Hy, can you tell me how can i correct or twist a blade, the blade and the eye are not align. Thank you for your answer.
OMG!
I have the same kind of anvil this guy has.
I bought one of your Damascus Bushcraft Knives and it's one of my prized possessions. I put it to good use here in Michigan.
You are not Northmen or is a root of northmen?
Want an axe not full of apoxy losse handle issues and at a better price gransfors bruks is the way to go their quality control is unsurpassed its a true working axe I beat the daylights out of mine on a daily basis and it just does what it was designed to do... cut wood and not break
Truly and artist. Thank you for sharing !
WOW! 🤩👍
Awesome!
That is bad . But I wanna have that knife with other smaller know in one sheath .
This is a great video for information about smithting sharp tools. Thanks for the video and information its really illuminating.
I love it. I love it. I love it
How did the funding go? Did you do well?
Granfors bruks is better and cheaper sry
Is there any way I can custom order an axe like this? Cause yes, I want y’all to still be able to put your makers’ marks on them, but I also wanted to woodburn some runes and religious symbols to make them the main focus on the haft. And if there’s no way I can do that, can I just order an axe head and make the haft myself? Thanks for reading.
looks like dangerous technique ... I do that differently :-)
I really like it. Also check out Woodglut and plans.
Masteer💪
Well its definately piqued my interest
Well here I am
I Got this knive since 5 Years now ..it´s SOO Beautiful , but i had to buy a REALLY Good Sharpening System to get the Scandi grind right , i WONT tread this expensive knive any wrong .
Why in the world would you dislike something like that???? This is awesome, thank you and Good luck.
Amazing, but i think that was not an hard wood,
Like butter!
I wouldn't buy anything Autine makes if they paid me. I know how they started and the designs they stole when they left John Neeman. Also, the shoddy workmanship exhibited on an Axe that Wrangler Star reviewed.
LOL! Is it full tang?
Thats an aspen. Literaly you can do it with a spoon :)
I wish I could buy an axe head just like this
could you lower the volume of the music on future vids?
Как заказать
This is a fine axe,no doubt. But this is allso a fresh wood in this clip. And wood like this fresh you can cut even with a knife for butter :)
That clothing lmao
Wide @ss curf you cut there, notch or whatever else you call it
This ad makes me think of Bloomberg, that’s not good
All I’m going to say is this, there’s nothing wrong with buying a very expensive axe. But, if you can sharpen an axe (I bet you that you could with under $50 in equipment), there’s no need to spend 10 times as much. Council tool make great axes if you touch them up a bit. Hults Bruk, hultsafors, and grandfors Bruk make medium to high quality axes for about $200 or less, all of them are fantastic. If you can put in the work, a vintage axe head can be the best axe you have ever used. Old steel is miles better than most steels we have today because of the higher carbon content in it as it aged.
Does that mean, that all carbon steels, on axes or knives, become better as the time pass? Thanks in advance
This the one that broke on Wranglerstarr’s review bc the head used an epoxy to bond to the handle. Pretty unacceptable for the price
this video let me know the beauty of blacksmithing and also a great post rock band. I keep coming back to watch this video and still love the camera work, editing, atmosphere etc... everything
That's a heavy axe well done
Incredible sharpeness.
My fiskars is better at a tenth of the price and guaranteed for life. More money than sense buying this axe.
filthy animal it is 10 times worst than this, you won’t cut through 3-4 inches sticks so swiftly, probably need at least a swing more. Is it worth 500 ? Hell no if you’re not a hardcore chopper I guess, if you do this all day you’re saving on probably millions of swings in your career. I have a fiskars too tho, they’re nice, the norden 10.
These guys use some kind of tool steel right?
About how many heads can you forge per day? Great vid. Thank you for sharing your craftsmanship!
Stayed long enough to note the power hammer sounds like puppy panting. Welp, bye.

I can see why this project could take days to complete, even with a power hammer. Forging the high carbon steel into the middle of the cutting edge is tricky business. Wish I had half the skill of this young man.
